Rafi served as the photographer for the Czech army in the battalion and was also the official interpreter "from Czech to German" during visits by senior officers of the Nazi German armies in Czechoslovakia. Rafi knew and spoke seven languages.

![Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, A formation in the Sixth Battalion. Labor units within the Slovak army until the summer of 1943. Those serving in the unit were protected from deportation to Poland. Most of the recruits participated in the Slovak Uprising. The photos were taken thanks to Rafi's role as the official photographer of the battalion.
